    The Super Berry

Firstly, it helps to boost your immune system but carrying large amounts of vitamin C. Other nutrients they carry are manganese, vitamin A, b-complex, copper, selenium, zinc and iron all of which help to tackle the common cold, flu and other infections.

Blueberries contain antioxidants which can help prevent elderly diseases such as cataracts, Alzheimers and glaucoma.

    The Secret to Luscious Locks

Contrary to popular belief, the secret to healthy hair is not related to the shampoo you use but the food you eat.

    Secret 1: Water

Yes we know you have heard it before but we’re telling you again. Water makes up a quarter of the contents of our hair and our bodies need a regular intake, 8-10 glasses a day to be precise. Do not wait until you are already thirsty as this means you are already starting to dehydrate. Healthy hair is hydrated hair.

    Secret 2: Protein

Protein which is found in such foods as cheese, fish, milk, meat and cereals is essential for healthy hair. Protein actually strengthens the hair shaft itself preventing splitting and snapping.

    Secret 3: Minerals

Iron helps to improve the oxygen supply to your hair. Lack of Oxygen to the hair can cause brittleness throughout the length of your hair which is never good. Iron can be found in red meat and dark green vegetables. I bet a sunday roast is looking good about now :)

Copper in your diet can help with your hair colour. That’s right, no more need for high lights and low lights. Try shellfish, liver, fresh veg, nuts and seeds.

    Secret 4: Vitamins

Vitamin A helps you to get a great scalp. Veggies like carrots are best.

Vitamin B & C helps good blood circulation which makes for healthy strong hair and no split ends. Foods such as eggs, milk, bread and fruit & veg are best.

Vitamin E which is found in brown rice, wheat and leafy greens is what gives your hair shine.

We hope these nutritional tips help your hair to look its best and you to feel fabulous.

    We love Honey!

We all know honey is yummy on toast, but did you know our sweet treat is also well known for its medicinal qualities.

Honey can be used as an antiseptic for minor burns, cuts and wounds. Its ability to reduce inflammation and promote healing is well known. Search especially for Manuka honey native to New Zealand as it can be exposed to heat and light and can even be diluted and it won’t lose its healing qualities.

A little tip for all you DIY beauty babes is a honey and oat anti acne scrub. We know it sounds delicious and too good to be true. The oats gently exfoliate skin and the honey is a natural moisturiser. Its the perfect pass time for a relaxing evening in with the girls. Click here to find out all the sticky details.

    Would you get a $550 Snakeskin Mani/Pedi?

    Snakeskin

When your children hand you shedded snakeskin, why not give yourself a snakeskin manicure! That’s what happened to 40-year-old nail technician Terri Silacci who “was dying to figure out a way to match her nails with the tote.” And a new manicure craze was born, according to the NY Post. She told the paper, “It wasn’t until my kids brought [the shedded skin of a 4-foot python] home that I thought, ‘That’s it. I’m going to do it with real snakeskin.’”

Currently four salons in Manhattan offer the snakeskin manicure, “in which hand-cut swatches of snakeskin are applied to the nail bed and sealed between a coat of instant-drying Bio Sculpture Gel base color and a clear top layer.: It costs up to $550 for a mani/pedi combo of this kind—and hundreds of New York women have already paid that kind of cash to get it done.

Hmm, not sure this is one for Serenity!

You don’t have to go to London to get this treatment, all Anne Semonin products are also available at your very own Serenity in the City.
