Bacon? A perfume that smells of Bacon?

Ok, this is not a late April Fool – yes quirky website Firebox.com has brought out a new perfume that smells like bacon. Apparently Bacon is the eighth favourite smell of the nation and Firebox.com expect their new scent to be a sell-out. It comes in two varieties: Bacon Classic – a spice maple aroma and Bacon Gold – a sizzling citrus scent.

I know we all love a bacon sarnie, but would you really want to smell like one?!

Get threaded and grow shapely brows..

Most people would agree that thicker brows have been in style for quite some time now, and there’s some very good reasoning behind the trend. While thin, over plucked eyebrows may look unnatural and severe, full eyebrows often look more youthful and natural, not to mention they intensify eyes and cheek bones.

Eyebrow threading is a relatively new phenomenon to the UK beauty industry but has been used in foreign climes for centuries. Essentially, a threading practitioner takes a piece of thread that is twisted in such a way that it can sweep over and remove an entire row of hair at once, as opposed to tweezing which removes one hair at a time. In effect, threading results in a much straighter line and a more obvious, dramatic shape.

Why not try eyebrow threading for only £12 at the Spa.

Semi-Permanent Make Up - Is it worth the pain?

Here is the Daily Mail’s Edwina O’Reilly’s vertict on Semi-Permanent make-up, what do you think?

With a two-year-old daughter and a hectic working life, it’s hard to find time to wash my hair, let alone apply cosmetics.

So when I heard about semi-permanent make-up expert Tracie Giles, I was desperate to give her a try. My eyebrows are sparse - the result of overzealous plucking - and pencilling them in every day is a hassle I can do without.

Plus, I’ve never mastered the art of smudge-proof liner on my upper eyelids, which is another of Tracie’s specialities. I decided to go for the double whammy.

Semi-permanent make-up lasts between nine and 18 months. The type Tracie uses is natural, mineral-based and non-toxic, meaning treatments are hypoallergenic.

First, she used a regular eyebrow pencil to shape and colour my brow - and once I was happy with the colour and shape, a topical anaesthetic was applied to numb the skin.

Next, a fine needle was used to tattoo individual hairs - more irritating than painful. The process was the same for the eyeliner. Tracie drew a fine line close to my upper eyelashes, ensuring it wasn’t too dark.

The procedure wasn’t comfortable, but it didn’t hurt, and it was all over in 40 minutes.

When I looked in the mirror, I was bowled over. My eyebrows were perfect and the eyeliner looked great. There was no scabbing or soreness and, a couple of weeks later, the overall effect was fantastic and natural-looking.

That said, the results do fade and, after a year, it is worth having a touch-up treatment, which is available at a reduced cost.

Make Up For Darker Skin Tone

Here are a couple of make up tips for those of us with a darker skin tone.

For eye shadow: Grey, brown and natural shades will compliment your eyes. Also try shimmer colors such as silver, bronze, and terra-cotta which can brighten your face. Why not experiment with mascara colors such as navy and dark purple.

For blush: More pigment is a must for darker skin. Deep rose and apricot shades will highlight your cheekbones beautifully however, stay away from anything with a strong orange base as this will not flatter your skin.

For your lips: Colours such as apricot, blackberry, caramel and red will compliment your lips.

    Good luck!
